Advancing
Vibrant
Communities - Committed to help move people out from inside the four walls of the church into the city, to meet the needs of their community through personal service.
Advancing Vibrant
Communities, Inc. was
formed by a pastor and business leaders with a burning vision to see the
church and faith-based organizations meet the needs and heal the hurts
that are crying out for help in each of our communities.
Like many of the
dynamic futurists and analysts of the church today, we adamantly believe
that the church (the people who attend…who sit in the pews) must get
out of the comfort of the four walls to personally serve the needs of
the city, or our churches will fade into irrelevancy in today's
culture.

Heifer International - To work with communities to end hunger and poverty
and care for the earth.
With gifts of livestock and training, we help
families improve their nutrition and generate income in sustainable
ways. We refer to the animals as “living loans” because in exchange for
their livestock and training, families agree to give one of its animal’s
offspring to another family in need. It’s called Passing on the Gift – a
cornerstone of our mission that creates an ever-expanding network of
hope and peace.

Kies African Mission - Making disciples, building up the church, alleviating suffering, and promoting justice, freedom, and peace.
Larry Kies is a United Methodist missionary serving as Technical Advisor
to the Africa University Farm at Mutare, Zimbabwe, southern Africa.
Reflecting on his ministry, Mr. Kies shares, “I am in mission with the
African people as we manage a commercial-scale farm that demonstrates
appropriate farming methods. Students, even those not studying
agriculture, are exposed to sustainable practices as many work part-time
on the farm to help pay their school fees. In teaching, I hope to
re-enforce in students a Christian outlook toward farming and business,
since many of them will be the African leaders of the future. By so
doing, I hope to obey Jesus’ command, implicit in Matthew 25, to feed
the hungry.”

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of
the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its
ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the
gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without
discrimination.
Berberian Homeless and Transitional Center- Working along with community volunteers to provide shelter, an evening meal and place shower to the homeless community. The Transitional Center is helping individuals to make positive choices to change their circumstances.
The Salvation Army in Modesto operates a shelter located at 9th and D
Streets. The shelter is available all year round on a limited basis
during the summer months and at full capacity (80 men and 20 women)
during the winter months. Currently, there are a number of church
congregations that provide nutritional meals to our guests. These
partners prepare meals for 140 individuals and transport those prepared
meals to the shelter located at the corner of 9th and D streets. Then,
in service to others, the members of the congregations lovingly serve
this food to the needy.
